Recommendations on fabric: natural or mixed suiting fabric
You will also need: lining; 4 buttons; shoulder pads; fusible interfacing
If the pattern has a double line around it, the seam allowances are included.
Note: By default, seam allowances are NOT included (single line) and will need to be added when laying out and cutting details.
Seam Allowance: on hem and lower edge of sleeve – 3 cm, all other seams -1 cm
Attention! First of all, please print all the paper patterns and lay them out at the width of fabric you plan to use (usually from 90 to 150 cm) to see how much fabric you will need. Don't forget to take into account pieces to be duplicated or cut on a fold.
When sewing the garment, pay attention to notches. They must match up with corresponding pieces.
CUTTING:
The word, “beam” used on some patterns means “straight of grain”. Some pieces will be cut on the fold, this is noted on the pattern piece. Mark all notches and other design features such as darts, pleats etc. from the pattern onto your fabric.
Darts: The fold of the dart is always pressed toward the center of your garment, or down toward the hem.
Fabric:
1. Center back – cut 2
2. Side back – cut 2
3. Front — cut 2
5. Side front — cut 2
6. Upper sleeve – cut 2
7. Lower sleeve – cut 2
8. Back neck facing – cut 1 9. Button-stand – cut 2
10. Pocket underlay - cut 2
11. Top welt -cut 2
12. Lower welt — cut 2
Lining:
1. Center back – cut 2 2. Side back – cut 2
3. Side front – cut 2
4. Upper sleeve – cut 2 5. Lower sleeve – cut 2
*Lining for sleeve, as well as center back and side back are cut using main fabric pattern pieces except for the width of back neck facing.
Fusible interfacing: center front, top and lower welts, button-stand, back neck facing, lower edge of sleeve.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Apply interfacing to listed pieces.
2. Sew darts on back. Press toward center. Sew side backs to center back. Press
seams apart. Sew center back seam. Press seam apart.
3. Fold pocket welts in half lengthwise and press. Pin welts on front according to markings: top welt— onto front, lower frame — on side front and sew. Turn back, straighten and press welts. Pin pocket underlay on wrong side and stitch into welts' connecting seams.
4. Press hem on side front. Sew darts on front. Seam comes exactly up to hem fold-line. Trim off
bulk of the dart up to 1 cm, press apart.
5. Sew side and shoulder seams of the jacket. Press seams apart.
6. Sew elbow seam of sleeve. Press seam apart. Sew front seam of sleeve. Make a gathering stitch along sleeve cap for ease. Sew sleeve into armhole, matching notches and easing along sleeve cap. Sew shoulder pads.
7. Sew shoulder seams of button-stands/facings. Press seams apart. Sew lining
seams, leaving a slit in left elbow seam for turning. Sew in sleeves.
8. Pin button-stand onto right side of front, right sides together, and sew along
button-stand, sewing the neckline at the same time. Start and finish the stitch exactly near marked line of hem. Clip into curves, understitch, turn right side out and press.
9. Sew lining to button-stands and neckline facing. Sew lining to lower edge of sleeve and lower edge of garment. Turn jacket out through the slit. Sew the slit.
10. Make buttonholes and sew buttons. Wear the jacket with decorative belt.
