Recommendations on fabric: natural/mixed fabric suitable for dresses; contrasting fabric for decoration.
You will also need: fusible interfacing; dress zipper.
Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm; seam allowance for hem of dress – 1.5 cm.
Note on seam allowances:
- If the pattern has double contour the seam allowances are included. They are 1 cm unless specified otherwise.
- If the pattern has single contour, the seam allowances are NOT included and need to be added when laying out the pattern.
Note on length of fabric:
Attention! The amount of fabric needed for your pattern is not included. It will depend on the selected pattern size, the width, and design of the fabric you plan to use. First, print all the paper patterns and lay them out at the width of fabric you plan to use (usually from 90 to 150 cm). Measure how much fabric you will need. Don't forget to account for pieces that need to be cut multiple times and pieces that are cut on the fold.
CUTTING:
Note on cutting:
On the pattern pieces, “beam” means straight of grain. Lay out your pieces accordingly. Some pieces will be cut on the fold. This is noted on the pattern piece. Mark all notches and other design features such as pleats etc. from the pattern onto your fabric.
When sewing the garment, pay attention to notches, they must match up.
Main fabric:
1. Upper back - cut 2
2. Lower back - cut 1 on fold 3. Upper front – cut 1
4. Lower front - cut 1 on fold 5. Sleeve – cut 2
Decorative fabric:
1. Back inset - cut 2
2. Front inset - cut 1
3. Neckline facing – cut 4 4. Cuff - cut 2
5. Back decoration - cut 1 6. Front decoration - cut 1
Fusible interfacing:
1. Neckline facing – cut 2 2. Cuff – cut 2
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Apply fusible interfacing to neckline facings and manchetten.
2. Sew darts on upper backs. Press darts towards center. Sew center seam on upper back, press towards left and serge. Sew back inset to upper back, press seam allowances towards inset and serge.
3. Make and baste pleats on lower back as desired. Sew lower back to garment to вставке, press towards top and serge. Sew back decoration to main piece, press towards top and serge.
4. Sew darts on upper fronts, press bulk towards center. Sew front inset to upper front, press seam allowances towards inset and serge. Make and baste pleats as desired on lower front. Sew lower front to inset, press towards top and serge. Sew front decoration to main piece, press towards top and serge.
5. Sew shoulder seams, press seams towards back and serge.
6. Sew right side seam. Press seams towards back and serge. Serge left side edges separately. Sew left side seam from armhole to notch and from notch to bottom. Press seam apart, pressing the slit at the same time. Sew in zipper.
7. Pin neckline facings together by two, right sides together and sew outer edges. Trim away corners, clip into curves. Turn facing right side out, straighten, press. Pin facing to dress right sides together and sew. Serge seam and topstitch onto main piece.
8. Fold cuff in half lenthwise right sides together and sew side seams. Turn right side out, press. Sew sleeve seam, serge and press. Sew sleeves into armholes matching notches and adjusting ease on sleeve cap. Serge and press. Sew cuff to sleeve, placing corners of cuff near notch. Serge and topstitch onto sleeve.
9. Serge bottom edge of dress, press onto wrong side and topstitch.
