6042 TROUSERS WITH ELASTIC WAISTBAND

YOU NEED: cotton or mixed fabrics of 150 cm width; fusing; elastic braid; 3 zippers; 1 button.

CUTTING:

Fabric:

1. Button catch – 1 piece

2. Sacking – 2 pieces

3. Patch pocket – 2 pieces

4. Front part – 2 pieces

5. Back pocket – 2 pieces

6. Waistband – 1 piece

Fusing: waistband, button catch.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Apply the fusing to wrong side of waistband and button catch.

Press patch pockets upper edges under, and topstitch. Press side and lower edges allowances to wrong side and topstitch pockets on back parts.

Sew front middle seam 3-4 cm downward the closure. Press the one-piece facing into left part of trousers under the wrong side along the center. Cut the facing from the right part of trousers, leaving 1 cm allowance. Press this allowance to the wrong side and tack one side of zipper, with its teeth close to folding. Fold the button catch along the center, with its wrong sides together, then neaten the lengthwise folding and the rounded one. Tack the ready edge, placing it under slit right side and the zipper. Topstitch the right side along the edge, joining the zipper and the button catch. Pin middle lines together. Pin zipper free braid to left side facing, then stitch; do not catch the front part. Then stitch the left part along the marking, catching facing and the zipper.

Sew side seams excluding pocket entrance and lower slits. Sew front sackings to pocket entrances allowances right sides together (from wrong side) strictly along side seams marking. Press sackings into front parts; then sew.

Sew side seams, neaten allowances. Sew middle seam.

Sew the waistband to trousers upper edge. Sew waistband closure allowance to the button catch. Press joining seam allowance and waistband lengthwise open edge towards waistband. Fold the waistband along the center and sew front short edges. Turn the waistband right side out. Pin the waistband inner edge on above the joining seam. Make a mark at waistband right end on 12 cm from edge, and make a mark at waistband left end on 8 cm from edge. Topstitch waistband inner edge between marks, then make two more stitches of the same intervals, - for coulisses. Pull one edge of elastic braid into each coulisse. Topstitch braid ends. Topstitch open parts of waistband inner edge.

Sew zipper under side lower slits edge. Press hem allowances under and topstitch it.

Make a buttonhole into waistband left end, sew the button on right one.
